Heather J. Rhoades Named Principal-in-Charge of Cummings & Lockwood's West Hartford, Connecticut Office

Cummings & Lockwood is pleased to announce that Heather J. Rhoades has been named Principal-in-Charge of the Firm’s West Hartford office. She joined the Firm in 1999 and became a Principal in 2007. She is a member of the Firm’s Private Clients Group where she brings 17 years of experience in estate planning, estate settlement, trust administration and charitable planning. She is also a member of the Firm’s National Charitable Planning Group.

Heather is a Fellow in the prestigious American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and serves on the Executive Committee of the Estate and Probate Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. She is also President of the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford, as well as a member of the American Bar Association.
Heather has been recognized in Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers since 2014 and in The Best Lawyers in America since 2013, and was also recently named “Hartford Trusts & Estates Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers. She received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Connecticut. She was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1999.
Heather is a frequent speaker and author on a broad range of trusts and estates topics, as well as active in many civic and philanthropic organizations. She is a member of the Planned Giving Professional Advisory Council of the University of Connecticut Foundation; a member of the Philanthropy Committee of the Editorial Advisory Board of Trusts & Estates Magazine; is a former member of the Public Giving Professional Advisory Committee of the Hartford Foundation, and an Ambassador of The Mark Twain House & Museum.
Heather lives in Glastonbury with her husband, Jon Morton.
