Margaret Deluca Named Chair of Private Clients Group

Cummings & Lockwood LLC is pleased to announce that Margaret (Meg) A. Deluca will succeed Heather J. Rhoades as the Chairman of the Firm’s Private Clients Group (PCG), which is one of the largest and most respected trusts and estates practices in the United States and has been recognized by Chambers High Net Worth Guide as a top tier private wealth law firm in Connecticut for 10 consecutive years.

“Meg has agreed to take on this Chairman role despite her very active practice.  I am excited to work with Meg on the new initiatives which will be undertaken by PCG in the coming year,” remarked Laura W. Beck, Chairman and Managing Director.

Based in the Stamford office, Meg joined the Firm in 1996 and concentrates her legal practice in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration and probate litigation.  Throughout her career, she has been a leader in the Private Clients Group.  Meg has served as a volunteer on countless PCG projects, including a 28 year tenure on the firm’s estate planning Drafting Committee during which she designed the firm’s proprietary drafting software.  She has been a frequent instructor in the Associate Training Program and a mentor to many young associates and partners in recognition of which she received the Ladder Award from the Connecticut Bar Association.   Meg has also participated in Firm management as a member of the Board of Directors and the Compensation Committee.

Meg received her J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and her A.B. in Psychology, cum laude, from Princeton University.  She has been cited as one of the Best Lawyers in America in her area of law by Best Lawyers® since 2018 and speaks frequently on a variety of trusts and estates topics.   

In addition to her law practice and managerial responsibilities, she is actively involved in charitable organizations.  She is currently Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Darien Arts Center, a not-for-profit organization which focuses on making dance, music, visual arts and theater accessible to all members of the lower Fairfield County community.  Meg has served on the Board of Directors of the Guardianship & Advocacy Resource Program, Inc. (GARP) and the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Event Committee for the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut.
